The discovery of a 2,500-year-old metal helmet in an Illyrian burial mound on the Pelješac Peninsula in Croatia has sent ripples of excitement through the archaeological community. The helmet, unearthed at the Gomile archaeological site near the village of Zakotorac, is believed to date back to sometime between the end of the sixth century B.C. and the beginning of the fourth century B.C.
